Formula G lands at SpeedMachine, making its debut at Silverstone

SpeedMachine has teamed up with Fueltopia, the crew who bring you the European Gymkhana Championship, welcome you to Formula G.

Formula G

How it works

Get revved up with an extra fix of adrenaline and watch the action unfold as drivers from all over the UK battle at high speed against the clock around our specially designed obstacle course. Expect screeching, speed & and an edge of your seat thrill ride as we inject an AutoSOLO with a shot of 100 octane fuel and a massive dose of attitude.

Two courses are laid out on a large asphalt area, where each mirror each other, consisting of hairpins,180s and obstacles like the ‘washing machine’ that requires the driver to turn 360 around a barrel with three closed sides.

Drivers compete against the clock with 2 laps on each side of the track. The fastest lap is the taken to qualify for entry into the top 16. THEN its sudden death as 16 becomes 8, then 4 then the finals and you’ll be able to watch all the tension, sweat and action live.

Have you got what it takes?

Reckon you’ve got the bottle to take your seat at the starting grid? Now is your chance to step up, sign on and claim some massive bragging rights!

You can pretty much join in the action with whatever is on your driveway but you’ll obviously need the right tools for the trade, so here are a few options;

  • All-Wheel Drive class
  • Rear Wheel Drive
  • Front Wheel Drive plus
  • Open wheel (U1)

There's only room for 80 drivers over the weekend. Entries are allocated on a first come, first served basis with completed applications and full payment received. Successful drivers will be informed before SpeedMachine.

The Racing Format

Before SpeedMachine, you will be sent arrival instructions and directions to the Formula G zone to sign in. Here you’ll be presented with race numbers and sunstrips, the Formula G team will come and check over the car and will then give you the green light to head to the drivers briefing.
Drivers are all given track maps - it’s here that the old grey matter comes into its own. You’ll have to study both the left and right hand lane (it’s worth noting that competitive drivers bring along spotters to help with guiding them around the track via radios). The group then head onto the closed track, on foot you’ll walk both layouts. It’s important to make mental notes as time getting lost on the track in race mode will result in DNF’s.
Open practice is as it says, open, all morning. You can run as many times as you can within the open practice period making sure you get that memory cranked as well as being able to cleanly negotiate the obstacles on track.
Each driver will then get four qualifying laps, 2 on each side of the track, with the fastest becoming your qualification entry.
If you’ve done enough and made it through to the top 16, the pressure really starts to amp up. From now on it, its sudden death knock out and the top 16, soon becomes 8, 4 and then the finals.

If you go on to win…well surely that’s all the glory you need but we’ll throw in 4 x VIP passes for SpeedMachine 2020 so you can return in a blaze of glory and show your mates the spot where you made history, well sort of.
